Why do I need a separation layer between insulation and screed?

Placing a separation layer above your insulation will mean that when you come to lay your screed, there will be no space where it can seep into the joints of the boards. If you didn’t lay down a separation layer the liquid screed that is laid would get underneath the boards, and when it sets it could force them upwards. This would create a gap between the boards and would cause them to be less efficient.
