Why do I need a perimeter strip of insulation around the edge of the floor?
Having a 25mm upstand insulation strip around the edge of the flooring will reduce any cold bridging. Avoiding the cold bridging will improve the overall thermal performance of the building. Cold bridging refers to an element of the building, which is allowing heat transfer and loss of energy (the wall in this case). The top of the perimeter strip of insulation should be level with the top of the floor screed, and the bottom of the strip should be level with the bottom of the floor insulation. It is important that the perimeter strip is tightly fitted to the floor insulation and the wall.
