Final Friday Five
Brexit. What now?
Yesterday the UK took to the polls to decide whether we should leave or remain in the European Union. This morning it was announced that we, as a nation, have decided to leave.
What we know is that the government will be trawling through more than 40 years of EU legislation and deciding what we keep, what we amend, and what we dispose of. So, what does this mean for the construction industry? It would be churlish to speculate. The benefits for the fuel poor, for lower carbon emissions, for improved health and well-being, for lower energy bills as a result of an energy efficient building fabric are obvious and the demand for housing does not simply disappear. Let’s hope that common sense prevails.
The LENDERS project is seeking to help reduce carbon emissions and aid responsible borrowing by more accurately estimating domestic fuel costs as part of the process of a mortgage application.
You can help by completing this short survey on your home and fuel usage. It’s best if you have your recent fuel bills to hand, as well as your home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), but don’t worry – you can still complete it without these.

On the subject of lower lambda, we’re pleased to announce that our new products are officially award winning!
We mentioned in last month’s Final Friday Five that we were a finalist in the ‘Excellence in Innovation’ category at this year’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards.
Well – we’re pleased to announce that not only did we win the aforementioned prize, we were also proud recipients of Business of the Year!
On a lighter note than we started, it’s Glastonbury Festival, so other than actually being there like some lucky people in our office, let’s start off by looking at a couple of posts from Designboom and Inhabitat all about tents and tent design. Then what better way than to soak up the atmosphere and bringing Glastonbury to your office by delving into the weird and wonderful textile structures designed by architects.
