Does it make a difference where I put my insulation to have my heating work quickly?
Yes, it does make a difference where you put your insulation. If you have your insulation on the interior in front of the substrate (eg the walls which may be made of brick or block), then your house will heat up quickly. However, if you have your insulation on the exterior of the building then it will heat up more slowly but will retain the heat for longer. This is because the masonry will absorb the heat in front of the insulation – it will also release the heat slowly, keeping warmer for longer.
